Holmes Park Golf Course first opened for play in 1963. The course was designed by Floyd Farley.
Holmes Park Golf Course is one of five Lincoln City Golf Courses. The Lincoln City Golf Courses have a long and successful history of providing golfing opportunities to the citizens of Lincoln and the surrounding area. The courses are: Pioneers Golf Course, Holmes Park Golf Course, Mahoney Golf Course, Highlands Golf Course, and The Jim Ager Golf Course.
All Lincoln City Golf Courses are open to the public 362 days a year with the exception of the Ager Golf Course, which is open April 1st through October 31st. At times, any of the five courses may have a special event scheduled, which may affect the availability of the course for play. Therefore, it is always a good idea to call ahead or visit parks.lincoln.ne.gov/golf.
Holmes Park Golf Course was the second 18-hole municipal golf course to be developed by the City of Lincoln. It was developed on land purchased near Holmes Lake in southeast Lincoln. This course is also a championship length, 18-hole golf course, and has undergone renovations in many areas since its initial construction.
Holmes Golf Course is a par-72 layout that plays to a maximum distance of 6,805 yards. The course rating is 72.2 with a slope rating of 120. Water hazards come into play on eight holes.

This course has a nice layout for a muni, but often lacks decent maintenance. Greens are always slower than they need to be.
